Logo

The Michael Bierut TEDTalk about redesigning a library and logo is probably my favourite library-adjacent TEDTalk out there. He's funny, engaging, and an incredibly talented designer. His capacity to recognize the value of collaboration is so impressive and the results of those designs have created some of the most beautiful library spaces I've ever seen. I hope to see them in person some time.

I was quite happy with the name of my redesigned library learning commons space from an earlier assignment because it encapsulated what I would like the school library experience to be: creation over consumption.

I love logos, but I'm not super hot at logo design. There's a part of me that wishes he had gone to graphic design school, but I've never been much of an artist. Still, I love the creative simplicity of logo design and how they manage to convey an entire identity in a short moment. I settled on these three logo ideas for the School Creation Hub, as I'm calling it, because they all involve some symbolic representation of collaboration, ideation, and arriving at a solution to a problem.

Which one would you pick? I'm reserving my answer until I see what others have to say.

School Creation Hub - Living Learning (logo)
Logo 1: Abstract graphic, curved text line

A white logo on a blurred photograph background that reads "School Creation Hub: Artifacts of Living Learning"
Logo 2: The "maelstrom" cube logo

All caps logo with the same text as the earlier images. There are two colours on this logo.
Logo 3: The "Industrial Celtic Knot" with plain text.

I used Free Logo Maker, Design Mantic, and Logomaster.ai to create these, though one day I'd love to take a stab at finally teaching myself how to properly use Adobe Illustrator and design one of my own. Vector graphics are so much fun (for some of us, I guess).

Hi,

Wow, your logos look fantastic. I like how they look different but consistent in a way (with the intertwined symbols). It is a good idea that you used three different websites to make your logos. I should have done it.

If I must give you a suggestion, I think in the first logo, the yellow colour for "living learning" is a little hard to see. That is all.

Awesome job!

Hey Christian,

I like the simplicity and complexity of number 2. I think that it will replicate well on forms, newsletters and websites, it is also eye catching enough that you could drop the text eventually once your brand has been established. If you ever need a crash course on Illustrator send me a message :D
