Equity has been a focus for me this module, especially given the focus on robotics and other advanced technology such as VR and AR. I continue to wonder how I might future-proof a (hypothetical) library learning commons space in a way that will allow learners of different abilities (including developmental and mobility in addition to learning abilities) might access a hands-on library.
While I know there's no way to future-proof the inevitable obsolescence of technology, I might rework my board again in a future version of this project and reiterate what I am truly trying to accomplish.
For this section, I have zoomed in on the three areas of focus outlined by the assignment in the screenshot below:
Desired Role of the Library
Curriculum Drivers to Consider
Physical Layout and Considerations.
The actual Linoit board (click here) has received the full-court press stock photo treatment, and I can't say I'm entirely thrilled with how it looks. In fact, if I'm being honest, using stock photos to try to ground abstract concepts really feels like adding a level of abstraction because you can never really represent what you want if you're making compromises in your visual. My board feels like it's starting to border on parody!
This will continue to be a work in progress for the remainder of this course, I'm sure.
